Expert Answers about Chevrolet Hitch Covers

  • Is the Pilot Brake Light Hitch Cover # CR-007 Suppose to Flash When Right Turn Signal is Applied
  • On a hitch cover like the Pilot Brake Light Hitch Cover, part # CR-007, that uses just the green and white wires, the right turn signal is flashing because the hitch cover is using the right turn signal/brake circuit which is a combined circuit. This will happen on a hitch cover that only uses the two wires. I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer wiring and a link to a product page that will show the lighted hitch covers that we carry.

  • Does The EcoHitch EH36SR Utilize The Factory Removable Hitch Cover On A 2022+ Tesla Model S?
  • I went ahead and reached out to my contact at Torklift (EcoHitch) to confirm this. The EcoHitch # EH36SR does utilize the factory under fascia removable cover on a 2022+ Tesla Model S. So when the receiver insert is not installed, you can reinstall the factory hitch cover and hide the hitch completely. According to their instructions, you will not have to do any additional trimming.

  • Removing a Hitch Cover that is Locked Onto a 2009 Honda Pilot
  • Most hitch covers including # CHC322L do not come with their own hitch pin or lock so the one that is on the vehicle is likely some other brand locking hitch pin. I would need to know what it is or some pictures would be helpful if you could email some to me. Some covers come with what is basically a plastic spring that sort of looks like a wishbone. The two ends fit in the hitch pin holes in the receiver. To remove the cover that uses this device just push in on the plastic ends sticking...

  • Can Factory Trailer Hitch Cover Still be Used After Trailer Hitch Installation on a 2004 VW Touareg
  • I spoke with my contact at Curt about Trailer Hitch # 13220. He stated that on your 2004 Volkswagen Touareg the rear panel that is removed for hitch installation cannot be re-installed. The receiver will be in the way. What I recommend is a hitch cover. We have many hitch covers from the simple like # C22272, to the functional like # CR-600. I have included a link to our hitch cover main page for you to view. If you find one you like, make sure that it is compatible with a 2 inch trailer...

  • Should a Locking Hitch Pin be Purchased to Help Keep a Hitch Cover from Being Stolen
  • A trailer hitch cover like the Rubber Hitch Cover # 22281 is not one that can be locked, but since it is a common piece it really isn't in too much danger of being stolen. However, if you you are looking at a hitch cover that is a little more unique, like the part # HTCC11805, then I do recommend going with a locking hitch pin like part # e98880 as opposed to a typical pin and clip like part # PC3. This will help to deter theft of your cover. Please note that the lock and clip/pin numbers...

  • Recommended American Flag Hitch Cover that is Easy to Install
  • From a durability standpoint, the cover you have mentioned will serve you well. The Flag logo is vinyl coated which protects the decal from water, chemicals, and UV rays. It is outlined in chrome-plated ABS plastic. The Polished stainless steel bases gives a mirror-like shine. Since hitch covers are frequently stolen, I would also recommend a locking hitch pin. We offer a stainless steel model, part # e98882 that should provide a nice level of corrosion resistance for you. The install...

  • The U.S. Army 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # 03409210151, fits into the 2 inch receiver opening and is wedged into place using 1 of 2 supplied wire inserts. • Removal of Black Plastic Covering on Underside of 2011 Toyota Camry to Install Hitch
  • I believe you are speaking of the plastic cover shown in the video I have linked to. Before the hitch installation, the cover is removed and is not re installed after the hitch is in place. Once the hitch is installed, the plastic cover will no longer fit on the Camry. Because the hitch needs to be in direct metal to metal contact with the underside of the vehicle once it is installed, the hitch cannot be installed over the cover. To view the video I mentioned and to see the install instructions,...

  • Proper Wiring of a Hitch-Cover Brake Light so it Does Not Blink when Turn Signal is Activated
  • If you want your hitch cover brake light to only work with the brake lights, I would recommend that you use a 2 Wire Loop, item # 9651P, to make a separate connector for your brake light hitch cover. Then run the white wire to ground and splice the red wire to the third brake light circuit which does not blink when the brakes are applied and the turn signals are activated. You will have a separate two wire connector for the hitch cover with this setup. At this time I do not know of any...

  • How Does One Use Part # PC3 In Conjunction With A Trailer Hitch Cover
  • The Clip that is included with the # PC3 hitch pin is made of spring steel. The spring action of the clip holds it onto the grooved end of the hitch pin, keeping the hitch pin from sliding out of the hitch receiver tube. There is no weight bearing on the clip so it is not subjected to forces strong enough to remove clip. When installing the Michigan State Spartans hitch cover, item # AMG100277, you will insert the cover into the 2 inch reciever hitch on the vehicle and secure it with the...

The hitch cover # RP86530 will not light up when you are in reverse or when your turn signals are flashing. The LED hitch cover will stay dim until either the brake lights or hazard lights are activated which will result in higher illumination. Note that the converter, which is necessary to keep the hitch cover from flashing when your turn signals are activated, can be tucked...

  • The Dont Tread On Me Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # HCC11562, does have a small plastic wish bone shaped clip designed to hold the cover in place. It is not necessarily the most secure connection and will not protect against theft. Instead, I recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, # e98880, which offers the secure connection of a steel hitch pin with the theft deterrence of a lock. I have included a link to a video review featuring this lock below.

  • Should Open Ends of Curt Hitch C13421 be Covered with Rubber Plug
  • Having the crossbeam of the Curt trailer hitch # C13421 open instead of covered with a rubber cover would actually be more ideal in terms of preventing any corrosion. Rubber covers would not prevent all moisture from getting into the beam but they would drastically slow the evaporation process which means they'd hold moisture in the tube and cause corrosion to form faster.
